Pristine Water and Fresh Mountain Air

Adjacent to Enota are numerous waterfalls, including Gurley Falls, Big Joel Falls, Small Joel Falls, and Garrett Falls. Gurley Falls is an incredible two-stage waterfall with a total drop in elevation of over 200 ft.
A short hike past the old YMCA swimming pool behind the Lodge takes guests to Big Joel Falls which is also over 200 feet. Again, be careful of your step when hiking on this United States Forest Service trail. This water at this location flows over a striking massive granite outcropping. While it is difficult to safely get close to it; a sweeping, yet beautiful view of the waterfall can be seen and photographed directly from the top of the trail (there’s not a better view by going farther, so enjoy from this spot). Near the main entrance off Highway 180, you can see the Garrett Falls, as it joins the Soapstone River.

Committed to on-site power generation

Enota is committed to showcasing renewable energy with several of the owners being pioneers in solar energy in the United States. We are in the process of refurbishing and repairing a micro-hydro facility with a 27-kW rating, which we hope will have the ability to offset a portion of the power consumption on site. In addition, we’ve purchased dozens of tier one solar modules, which we plan to install in areas of the property receiving high amounts of sunshine. Note that the aerial image represents an example of a ground mounted solar facility installed in South Carolina.

What our People say

This place is absolutely gorgeous!!! We had a blast hiking to the waterfalls, touring the farm and garden, and playing in the creek. Justin at the farm let my girls, pet the goats, and search the chicken coop for eggs. Everyone was really friendly and helpful. The kids loved the in-ground trampolines. Can't wait to return!

The waterfalls are a bit of a hike to find, but it's worth the walk.

All the delicate beauty of nature has been preserved with four breathtaking waterfalls, five bubbling streams, and two trout ponds. We are surrounded on all sides by the mountains of the Chattahoochee National Forest.

Water

Kids of all ages (and some nimble or athletic pets) can walk, swim, float (and sometimes tube) in any of our streams including those right on your camping site, just be careful of your step as the rocks can be slippery, of course bring sunscreen on hot days. You and your family can also hike to the top of the 200’ waterfall trail and carefully wade in the pool under the nourishing falls and take some incredible pictures and videos to share on Instagram, Facebook, TikTok or your social media platform of choice.

During some seasons, Enota also operates as a bio-diverse farm with some of the richest soil in the Southeast and is home to many friendly and approachable animals (chickens, bunnies, goats, two cows, mini horses, and even a few friendly cats). The duck pond in front of the historic Lodge is extremely popular and everyone has fun feeding the ducks.
Enota’s stocked trout pond directly across from the Lodge is a great place to catch trout for fun (or for dinner). We can supply you with the poles and no fishing license is required. This is a catch and keep pond and each caught fish is $7.00 per fish. The pond is usually well stocked from May through October. Another way to enjoy mountain fishing is in the National Forest adjoining Enota’s property. The State of Georgia wildlife office stocks the creek running along Road 180 and a Georgia fishing license is required.

Outdoor Relaxation

Visiting Enota is like being in an oasis of green, so relaxation is inevitable for most. With babbling streams throughout the property, grills and campfire pits on every site and a playground with trampolines available for children to get out their extra energy, Enota has all of what you need for a great get-away in the mountains.
